Manchester United Ready to Move for Arsenal's Ben White as Gunners Reluctantly Open Exit Door

Manchester United are gearing up to lodge a formal offer for Ben White, as Arsenal finally accept the writing is on the wall for their English defender.
The 28-year-old has been a fixture at the Emirates since arriving from Brighton in 2021 for approximately £50m, racking up 181 appearances in an Arsenal shirt. For several seasons, White proved a reliable performer at right-back, but his prospects have darkened considerably with Jurrien Timber's arrival and subsequent excellence cementing the Dutchman as one of Europe's standout defensive talents.
White's game time has evaporated as a result. This season, he's managed just seven Premier League outings, making a prolonged stint warming the bench an increasingly unattractive proposition for a player of his calibre and experience.
Arsenal's hierarchy, whilst harbouring genuine affection for White and ideally wanting to retain him, have reached an internal consensus that his continued development requires regular football. Consequently, they've signalled a willingness to entertain offers this summer—provided the fee justifies the departure.
United's primary focus remains overhauling their midfield, yet strengthening at right-back appears to be on their radar as well. The Manchester club are plotting a move worth approximately £52m—or €60 million—for White, according to reports from Spanish outlet Fichajes.
Arsenal's reluctance to part with their asset is genuine, but they'd accept a sale if a substantial offer materialises. Liverpool and Chelsea are also keeping tabs on the situation, whilst interest from Germany, Italy, and Spain suggests White won't lack suitors should he become available.
Whether White ends up at Old Trafford remains uncertain, but his departure from north London appears increasingly probable. Arsenal are bracing for a more significant clearout this summer, with a potential fire sale looming as the club attempts to balance the books following their £250m spending spree twelve months ago.
