Tchouameni's Madrid Exit: One Reason Stands Out Amid Valdebebas Chaos

Manchester United are keeping close tabs on Aurélien Tchouameni, but a training ground scuffle at Real Madrid's Valdebebas base this week may not be the catalyst that brings the midfielder to Old Trafford.

The Spanish capital has descended into something approaching chaos in recent days, with tensions boiling over ahead of Sunday's El Clasico showdown. The Athletic's mid-week exposé detailed multiple flashpoints, including Antonio Rudiker becoming embroiled in a heated dressing room row—one he apparently started—and Kylian Mbappé clashing with a member of Arbeloa's coaching staff over a training game offside call.

The most serious incident, however, involved Tchouameni and Federico Valverde. Marca reported that their training ground altercation resulted in Valverde requiring hospital treatment, with several players describing it as the most severe occurrence ever witnessed at Valdebebas. Real Madrid subsequently confirmed Valverde had sustained a traumatic brain injury, though he's since returned home in good condition.

Valverde's own statement proved telling. While acknowledging the "anger" that sparked the incident, he clarified that neither player had actually struck the other. Instead, he revealed he'd "accidentally hit a table" during the confrontation—a detail that somewhat deflates the dramatic headlines.

Tchouameni's alleged leaked messages appeared to offer his perspective on the matter, fuelling speculation that the midfielder might be eyeing an exit. United have him on their radar as a potential successor to Casemiro, alongside options including Elliot Anderson, Carlos Baleba, Sandro Tonali, and Adam Wharton.

Yet transfer authority Fabrizio Romano has poured cold water on the notion that this dust-up accelerates a move to Manchester. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano stated: "There is interest from Man United, that's for sure. He's a dream target for Man United, but it doesn't mean that he is going to Man United because he had a fight with Valverde."

Dutch legend Ruud Gullit echoed that sentiment, characterizing such friction as simply part and parcel of professional football. "That's normal. Come on. In my day, every week there was always something going on," Gullit told Metro. "You need to get rid of your frustration. In a team, you don't need to like each other. You can dislike someone, but you have to respect them because they're an important asset to the team."

According to Gullit, there's genuinely only one scenario that would prompt Tchouameni to depart Madrid. "Real Madrid is the biggest club in the world. Nobody refuses Real Madrid. Nobody," he insisted. "So to leave Real Madrid, there's only one reason – if they tell you we're signing someone else and you're going in a different direction. But you don't leave just because you want to go somewhere else. It doesn't happen."
