Man Utd Plotting Summer Purge of 13 Players as Ratcliffe and INEOS Wield the Axe

Sir Jim Ratcliffe's INEOS regime is gearing up for a significant overhaul at Manchester United this summer, with plans to move as many as 13 players out the door, according to reports.

The Red Devils, having invested over £200m in fresh talent last season, are readying themselves for another substantial spending spree. Having focused their previous window on bolstering the attacking ranks, United now have their sights set on recruiting at least two midfielders, a left-back, and a left-winger come the off-season.

Yet with wages to manage and squad bloat to address, a considerable exodus appears inevitable. The Daily Express reports that INEOS and Ratcliffe are orchestrating what amounts to a "brutal clearout," with 13 departures potentially on the cards.

The most high-profile exits appear certain. Casemiro has already signalled his intention to leave on a free transfer, while Manuel Ugarte's departure is becoming increasingly inevitable. Should Napoli secure Champions League qualification—which they appear firmly on course to achieve—their obligation to purchase Rasmus Hojlund will automatically trigger. Barcelona, meanwhile, continue circling Marcus Rashford, keen to negotiate a permanent switch to the Camp Nou.

Beyond these established names, the Express identifies a lengthy list of potential departees: Jadon Sancho, Tyrell Malacia, Andre Onana, Altay Bayindir, Radek Vitek, Tyler Fredricson, Toby Collyer, and Dan Gore.

Onana's situation has proven particularly intriguing. Whispers have circulated that the goalkeeper retains ambitions of returning to fight for his place under Michael Carrick. The club, however, wishes to move him on. Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan has now weighed in, indicating the Turkish side would welcome making Onana's loan arrangement permanent.

"Onana's career is already established," Dogan explained. "We like him. I've said this before. He has a certain plan for his career. If the conditions are right, we want him to stay. The final decision will be Onana's."

Transfer analyst Fabrizio Romano has added weight to the broader midfield overhaul narrative, suggesting that Ugarte's exit has shifted from possibility to near-certainty. "According to my information, some movements have already started to find a solution for Manuel Ugarte," Romano stated. "Casemiro's exit is guaranteed, and Ugarte's is also becoming almost guaranteed. So midfield signings, one for sure, but 100% could be two. That is becoming in conversations internally at Man Utd."

With Casemiro's departure already confirmed, the pressure now mounts on identifying Ugarte's successor—or successors, should United's ambitious midfield rebuild require dual investment.
