Man Utd weigh loan moves for Loftus-Cheek and Ndidi as midfield reinforcements beckon

Manchester United are in talks over a pair of midfield loan options as they look to shore up their engine room for the remainder of the season, with both Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Wilfred Ndidi under consideration.

The former Chelsea midfielder, currently with AC Milan, is understood to be keen on a Premier League return having struggled for minutes in Serie A this term. Discussions remain at an exploratory stage, but the 28-year-old's availability could provide a quick fix as United chase Champions League qualification.

Crook also reports that United have held talks regarding Ndidi, the ex-Leicester City man now plying his trade at Besiktas in Turkey. The midfielder represents another potential avenue for temporary reinforcement.

The calculus around these moves extends beyond simple squad depth. Should United push through with either signing, it could facilitate Manuel Ugarte's exit from Old Trafford. The Uruguayan has found opportunities scarce under previous management, and with the World Cup looming next summer, game time has become a pressing concern. Ajax and Galatasaray had previously expressed interest, only to be rebuffed by the club.

The Daily Mail suggests that United's willingness to negotiate over Ugarte's future could hinge on bringing in a replacement.
