Man Utd Make Move for Tottenham's Romero as Summer Rebuild Gathers Pace

Manchester United have set their sights on Tottenham captain Cristian Romero, with the club readying an offer for the Argentine centre-back as they push ahead with their summer overhaul.

The Red Devils' impressive finish to the campaign—which saw Michael Carrick guide them to third place and Champions League qualification after replacing Ruben Amorim in January—has handed the club greater financial firepower for the transfer window. The hierarchy are keen to strengthen across multiple areas, targeting at least two midfielders, a left-back, and a left-winger as baseline requirements, with ambitions that could stretch to a centre-back and striker too.

The first piece of the puzzle has already fallen into place. Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Ederson has completed his move from Atalanta, with all paperwork now signed between the Brazilian midfielder and United. Whilst the formal announcement awaits the completion of his medical and contract signing following his holidays, the deal is done in principle. Romano noted that an initial medical under Atalanta's supervision proved positive, and the player's desire to join the club has been unwavering for months.

However, United's recruitment team shows no signs of stopping there. Romano revealed that the club intends to pursue at least one additional midfielder, with work already underway behind the scenes to secure further midfield reinforcements.

The pursuit of Romero represents the next phase of this ambitious summer strategy. Argentine journalist Gaston Edul, who boasts 1.2 million followers on social media, reported that United are actively preparing a proposal for the Spurs skipper.

Meanwhile, former United striker Giuseppe Rossi has weighed in with his own suggestion, advocating for the signing of Barcelona's Robert Lewandowski on a free transfer. Speaking to Ozoon, Rossi argued that the experienced striker would provide invaluable guidance to younger squad members like Benjamin Sesko, describing the prospect as a "no-brainer" given Lewandowski's pedigree and the potential for a short-term arrangement.
