Manchester United to Don Admiral-Inspired Kit for 2026/27 Season

Manchester United are preparing for a trip down memory lane with their kit supplier Adidas, who will unveil a 2026/27 shirt inspired by the beloved Admiral era of the late 1970s.

The club is currently clearing stock of their current Adidas strip, with 2025/26 shirts now available at half price in the official store to make room for the nostalgic redesign.

According to leaked imagery, the new shirt will ditch the black trim currently in use and instead feature a polo neck white collar with a delicate stripe circling it. The sleeves will carry short Adidas stripes, whilst the kit will display the three-stripe Adidas badge and Snapdragon branding. The overall aesthetic is expected to be considerably more minimalist compared to recent home shirt iterations.

Admiral's original Manchester United kits ran from 1975 through 1980 and became instantly recognisable thanks to their half-size polo neck collar and thin sleeve stripes—a template that appears set for revival under Adidas's stewardship.

The Admiral brand itself holds legendary status in football kit history. The manufacturer pioneered bold design choices throughout the 1970s and 1980s, most famously creating the white, red and blue England shirt worn during the 1982 World Cup, whilst also producing Wales's 1976 kit with its striking semi-circular side stripes—a first for international football.

Among kit enthusiasts, Admiral enjoys something of a cult devotion, and a homage to that era would likely resonate strongly with the Old Trafford faithful. Mock-ups circulating on specialist kit leak sites have already generated considerable interest.

Separately, leaks have also revealed United's away kit for the current 2025/26 season will be blue, trimmed in white and red, with red Adidas stripes running down the sleeves in the traditional style.
