Camavinga Stays Put: United and Liverpool Turn Attentions to Juventus Midfielder

Manchester United and Liverpool face disappointment in their pursuit of Eduardo Camavinga, with the Real Madrid midfielder showing every sign of committing his future to the Spanish giants rather than making a Premier League switch.

Both clubs are actively hunting midfield additions ahead of the summer window. United face the departure of Casemiro and potential exit of Manuel Ugarte, leaving significant holes to fill. Liverpool, struggling for consistency this campaign with several key players underperforming, are equally keen to strengthen their engine room.

Camavinga had been touted as a potential solution for both sides, with speculation suggesting Los Blancos might consider his sale. However, Spanish sources now indicate Real Madrid are confident the French midfielder and his representatives intend to remain at the Bernabéu. The caveat remains that a sufficiently ambitious proposal from an elite club could yet sway his thinking, particularly if guaranteed first-team football were on offer.

Fabrizio Romano offered perspective on the situation back in February, noting that whilst Camavinga would theoretically be an ideal Casemiro successor, Real Madrid harbour no plans to let the player depart. Italian outlets report that United and Liverpool are now preparing concrete moves for Juventus' Khephren Thuram, a midfielder firmly on both clubs' radar. Newcastle have also indicated their willingness to join the race should they offload Sandro Tonali.

Thuram's next destination may well hinge on whether Juventus secure Champions League football for the 2026-2027 campaign. The Turin club faces pressure to move decisively to retain one of their most prized midfield assets and maintain stability in their ranks.
