The race for one of world football's most coveted talents is heating up. Manchester United and Liverpool find themselves locked in a seven-club battle to prise Real Madrid's Vinicius Junior away from the Bernabéu, with preliminary contact already made through intermediaries.

His current deal runs only until 2027, and whilst Real Madrid have repeatedly insisted they want him to stay, progress on a new contract remains frustratingly slow.

Real Madrid's president Florentino Pérez has previously insisted his commitment to extending Vinicius Jr's stay is unwavering. "The relationship between the president and the player is excellent, and the club have already presented a contract proposal," Fabrizio Romano reported last month. "Real Madrid are pushing strongly to reach an agreement as soon as possible." The Madrid hierarchy has maintained this position remains unchanged, though negotiations have dragged on for over 18 months without resolution.

The impasse appears to have opened the door for suitors. Alongside United and Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain have all been contacted regarding their interest, with the Saudi Pro League also monitoring developments. Real Madrid's willingness to entertain offers suggests they're anxious about the prospect of losing their prized asset for nothing.

The 25-year-old is not opposed to signing fresh terms, and Real Madrid's latest proposal would match Kylian Mbappé's basic salary. However, the club have made clear they will not budge further on their offer. With negotiations deadlocked and summer approaching, the Spanish giants face a genuine battle to keep their superstar from the clutches of Europe's richest clubs.
