Manchester United Eye West Ham's Summerville as Ornstein Outlines Two Key Hurdles

Manchester United have emerged as serious contenders for West Ham's Crysencio Summerville, with the Red Devils making a substantial bid for the Dutch winger following his impressive performances during his side's relegation campaign.

Despite West Ham's drop to the Championship at the end of the 2025/26 season, Summerville has caught the eye with consistently strong displays. The 24-year-old has also caught international attention, finding the net for the Netherlands with a clinical finish in their opening World Cup group fixture.

His performances have naturally attracted suitors from across the Premier League, with Tottenham previously linked with his services. However, David Ornstein has now flagged Manchester United as serious contenders, making the Old Trafford move one worth monitoring closely.

United's summer recruitment drive has been centred on midfield reinforcement, with Ederson Silva already secured and Matheus Fernandes identified as a potential next arrival. Yet the club recognises the need to bolster depth in other areas ahead of their Champions League campaign, particularly on the left wing.

The Athletic's Ornstein has outlined the critical conditions that could unlock a Summerville move. West Ham are holding firm on a £50million asking price for their contracted player, whose deal runs until June 2029. More significantly, the transfer appears contingent on Marcus Rashford's future being resolved—Barcelona elected not to trigger their €30m purchase option on the England winger's season-long loan, with that clause expiring on Monday.

Spanish outlet Fichajes has since reported that United have now "made a huge offer" for Summerville, positioning themselves as the frontrunner in the race. The initial proposal is understood to be in the region of €60 million, though West Ham are unlikely to be persuaded that this represents their final asking price for one of their most influential performers.
