Evra's Striker Wish: Man Utd Should Target Osimhen After Ederson Arrival

Manchester United are edging closer to landing Atalanta's Ederson, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that only final board approval stands between the club and confirming the midfielder's arrival. Yet Patrice Evra is already looking further down the shopping list—and he's got a very specific target in mind.

The former left-back has urged the Red Devils to make a move for Galatasaray's Victor Osimhen, the Nigerian striker currently valued by the Turkish side at €150m (£130m). Speaking to Goal, Evra harked back to Sir Alex Ferguson's era of squad depth, when United could call upon multiple world-class strikers across all competitions.

"Manchester United need a proper striker," Evra explained. "Back in the day, we had four amazing strikers, and if you want to play every competition, you need more strikers. To name one player, I say Osimhen because I know this guy can make a difference."

The club's summer agenda is already taking shape. Recruitment plans include at least two new midfielders, a left-back, and a left-winger as baseline requirements, though defensive reinforcements and attacking additions remain under consideration. The Ederson signing represents a significant step toward addressing midfield needs, particularly with Casemiro's impending departure.

Evra's enthusiasm for Osimhen is shared by Louis Saha, another United alumnus who sees genuine transformational potential in the 26-year-old. Saha pointed to Osimhen's proven pedigree across multiple leagues—success in France, a Scudetto-winning campaign with Napoli, and impressive form in Turkey—as evidence of his quality and mentality.

"He's got the character, he's got the quality," Saha told Goal. "He's scored goals at every level and carries Champions League experience. What really stands out is his personality and charisma. This United squad could genuinely benefit from that."

Saha particularly emphasised the pressure Osimhen shouldered at Napoli, delivering the club's first Serie A title in 33 years. That kind of big-game temperament, Saha argued, makes him the ideal candidate to lead United's line.

"I think he would have a huge impact at United," Saha concluded. "He is exactly what we need."
