Ederson Confirms Man Utd Switch is "Almost Done" Following New York Medical

Ederson is on the verge of completing his move to Manchester United, with the Atalanta midfielder confirming the protracted transfer saga is in its final stages following his medical assessment last Sunday in New York.
The Brazilian has effectively ended months of speculation by suggesting a deal with the Old Trafford club is now substantially wrapped up. Speaking from the World Cup, he told reporters: "I have to wait. Now I have to enjoy this moment, then we will see. Certainly, everything is almost done, but now I have to enjoy this moment. This is a wonderful experience and you have to enjoy the most."
United's pursuit of the midfielder forms part of their summer overhaul as they look to capitalise on their Champions League qualification under Michael Carrick. The club finished third in the second half of last season, with the European football providing both financial firepower and enhanced appeal in the transfer market.
Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano revealed roughly a fortnight ago that the transfer framework was locked down, confirming the €45m package had been fully documented between the two clubs. According to Romano's reporting at that time, all terms with Ederson had been settled since May, with the player expected to formalise his signature once the World Cup concludes.
Romano also signalled that Ederson would be merely the opening salvo in United's recruitment drive. With Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte both departing, the Red Devils face a pressing need to bolster their midfield ranks, with Romano suggesting at least one additional midfielder would arrive before the window shuts.
The fee represents shrewd business according to former Tottenham defender Sandro, who highlighted the value proposition compared to other targets on United's radar. Speaking to BritishGambler.co.uk, Sandro suggested the £38m outlay—roughly equivalent to the €45m figure—represents a bargain given the alternatives being mooted.
"I think £38 million for Ederson is a bit of a bargain, really, in today's market," Sandro explained. "When you think Man Utd are linked with Elliot Anderson, Sandro Tonali, Tchouameni from Real Madrid, they're all obviously world-class players, but they are so expensive comparatively."
Sandro praised Ederson's physical profile and Premier League readiness, noting the midfielder has already earned multiple Brazil caps. "He has that physical ability to play in the Premier League and I know that a few other clubs wanted to sign him from the Premier League as well," he added.
