Man Utd Rule Out Palmer Pursuit as Chelsea Demand Staggering Fee

Manchester United have made their position clear: Cole Palmer will not be heading to Old Trafford, despite mounting speculation linking the Chelsea attacking midfielder with a move away from Stamford Bridge.

The England international has enjoyed a stellar career at Chelsea since his £42.5m arrival from Manchester City in 2023, racking up 79 goal involvements across 111 appearances. Yet this campaign has proven frustrating for the 22-year-old, with injuries limiting him to just ten Premier League starts so far.

Whispers of discontent at Chelsea have circulated in recent weeks, with talk of Palmer eyeing a switch to Manchester United. Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior, however, has moved swiftly to quash such speculation, emphasising the midfielder's contentment and importance to the club's long-term vision.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has reinforced Chelsea's unwavering stance, insisting that any potential departure would command an eye-watering sum. "If someday they decided to part ways, it would take a crazy amount of money – but really crazy," Romano stated, emphasising there is currently zero activity from Palmer's camp regarding a transfer.

Spanish outlet Fichajes reports that Palmer's release clause stands at 200 million euros – equivalent to £175m – a figure Chelsea are standing firm on. The Mirror now confirms that United have simply opted out of the race altogether.

United's hierarchy recognises that Palmer sits well beyond their financial parameters, and strengthening the attacking midfield ranks simply isn't on their agenda. The club has already committed nearly £135m to acquiring Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, investments they believe have adequately addressed their attacking requirements heading into next season.
