Manchester United have zeroed in on their summer transfer priorities, plotting a significant squad revamp that will focus on reinforcing midfield and the left flank of their defence.

Newcastle United's Lewis Hall, Nottingham Forest's Elliot Anderson, and Bournemouth's Alex Scott have emerged as the club's primary targets, with all three expected to be pursued aggressively before the World Cup.

Anderson's arrival would address what's become an urgent concern. With Casemiro's imminent exit, United need fresh midfield blood, and the Forest midfielder ticks the boxes their recruitment team values most. His physical presence and range of passing have generated consensus among the club's decision-makers as the ideal profile to replace the departing Brazilian.

Scott offers another dimension to United's midfield options, capable of rotating through the double pivot and providing the flexibility the club craves in that area.

Defence demands overhaul

The left side of United's backline has proven a persistent thorn in the side for coaching staff, and Hall represents their solution. The Newcastle left-back's arrival would shuffle the deck considerably, allowing Patrick Dorgu to operate in more advanced positions where he's shown greater comfort. Hall would compete directly with Luke Shaw, bringing the physical edge and reliability the squad has lacked during crucial moments.
