Man Utd Chase Tromso Teenager as INEOS Target Sangare for Casemiro's Boots

Manchester United's recruitment machine is gearing up for another substantial summer spending spree, with INEOS plotting moves for a pair of midfield talents as they look to reshape their squad following the managerial upheaval at Old Trafford.

The club splashed over £200m during last summer's window under Ruben Amorim's stewardship, but the Portuguese boss departed in January after failing to deliver the required results. Michael Carrick has since taken temporary charge, with the club's recruitment focus now firmly fixed on overhauling the engine room.

Norwegian outfit Tromso's 19-year-old centre-back Kinteh, a Gambian international, is on United's radar as part of their youth development strategy. According to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, a summer "blitz" on the Scandinavian club is in the offing. Malick Diop, president of the Mawade Wade Academy who facilitated Kinteh's move to Norway, believes the time is ripe for his protégé to step up. "He's a very athletic lad who anticipates challenges," Diop told Africa Foot. "Being athletic is one thing but knowing how to anticipate challenges puts you at ease. These qualities inevitably make him a difficult defender to handle."

The academy chief insists summer represents the optimal window for the teenager's departure. "It's time for him to leave. There was already interest from clubs during the winter transfer window, but it wasn't the ideal time for a young player, as there's already an established squad and it's not easy to break into the first team. However, the best time is the summer. He'll have time to adapt and establish himself."

Meanwhile, Casemiro's impending free transfer departure—confirmed for the season's end—has prompted United to identify his replacement. Caught Offside report that Nottingham Forest's Ibrahim Sangare has emerged as the leading candidate. United's scouting department has been particularly impressed by Sangare's dominance in physical battles and composure when the heat is on. Forest are expected to command somewhere in the region of €45–50m for the midfielder, with the East Midlands club likely to sanction at least one marquee sale this summer.

The shape of United's midfield recruitment drive, however, hinges on two critical variables, according to analyst Fabrizio Romano. "To understand what kind of player they want to sign, we have to wait for two factors," Romano explained. "The first one is Champions League football. If you play Champions League you can attract some players—but for Man United it's never been a big problem, to be honest. Look at last summer, they were able to get the green light from Cunha, from Mbeumo, despite not being in European football. But financially, Champions League access would mean a lot in terms of investments for the summer transfer window."

The second factor is managerial continuity. "And then there is the manager," Romano continued. "Carrick is doing fantastic. I think if he keeps going like this he will have very good chances to stay. But at the moment it's still not something decided, not something communicated. It's not something they decide in February, and I think not even at the beginning of March. So we have to wait and see what happens with the manager."
