United and Villa Circle Como's Baturina After World Cup Heroics; Red Devils Also Eye Summerville

The transfer rumour mill is in overdrive following Wednesday's World Cup showdown between England and Croatia, with Manchester United now firmly in the mix for Como's Martin Baturina after an eye-catching display from the Croatian midfielder.

Baturina, earning his 20th cap, found the net in the first half with a crisp effort from distance, though England ultimately ran out 4-2 winners courtesy of Harry Kane's brace, Jude Bellingham, and Marcus Rashford. But the Como man's performance has done little to go unnoticed in the Premier League, with United joining Aston Villa and Leeds in expressing serious interest in the 23-year-old.

The Croatian playmaker arrived at the Lombardy outfit last summer from Dinamo Zagreb for £15.6m, and has since impressed under Cesc Fabregas in Serie A with six goals and three assists from attacking midfield over his debut campaign. That eye-catching form has sparked a bidding war of sorts, with Villa reportedly tabling a formal offer believed to be in the €50m-€55m bracket earlier this month. Another unnamed English suitor—likely United based on fresh reports—has also lodged a bid, prompting Como to dramatically revise their asking price upwards to €80m.

The €50m offer has been confirmed, while Bayern Munich have also made enquiries. Leeds, meanwhile, attempted to prise him away several months ago but failed in their pursuit.

Elsewhere, United have made formal approaches to West Ham regarding left-winger Crycensio Summerville, the Netherlands' standout performer at the World Cup. The Old Trafford outfit view the 23-year-old as a prime candidate for the left flank, particularly should Marcus Rashford depart this summer.

Summerville, who swapped Leeds for the Hammers in summer 2024, remains contracted to West Ham until 2029 with an additional year available as an option. The pacey winger has notched eight goals and seven assists across 56 appearances for the relegated east London club.
