Manchester United Confirm Three Departures as Barcelona Reject Rashford Option

Manchester United's summer overhaul is gathering pace, with the club formally announcing the departures of three first-team regulars whilst Barcelona have made their intentions clear regarding Marcus Rashford's future.

The Red Devils have confirmed that Casemiro, Tyrell Malacia, and Jadon Sancho will leave Old Trafford when their contracts expire on June 30. The club statement pulled no punches: "Casemiro, Tyrell Malacia and Jadon Sancho are among those departing, as their contracts come to an end."

Of the trio, Casemiro's next move appears settled. The Brazilian midfielder is poised to join MLS outfit Inter Miami, where Lionel Messi plays, with an agreement already in place. Malacia, meanwhile, made little lasting impression during his Manchester tenure, whilst Sancho – signed for £73m – looks destined to become one of the club's most regrettable acquisitions.

Over five years on United's books, the winger actually featured more frequently for his loan clubs (Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea, and Aston Villa – 101 games combined) than for the Red Devils themselves (83 appearances). His United record tells its own story: 12 goals and just six assists.

Barcelona's Rashford U-turn

Rashford, too, appears to be heading towards the exit, though his departure will likely involve a transfer fee rather than a contract expiry. Barcelona have pulled the plug on their €30m (£26m) option to sign the England winger permanently, as confirmed by both Marca and transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano on Wednesday morning.

Romano hinted a move to Camp Nou could potentially be revived later in the window, but Marca were unambiguous: Rashford will not be returning to Barcelona.

That development has swung the door wide open for Bayern Munich. The Bundesliga champions are ready to table a bid of £34.5m – a full £8.5m above Barcelona's abandoned option – according to reports from Christian Falk and The Sun.

The question now is whether Rashford remains wedded to his Barcelona dream or proves willing to negotiate with other suitors. Bayern's superior financial offer may prove difficult to resist, though the winger's preferences will ultimately shape what happens next.

United, meanwhile, are pressing ahead with their summer blueprint. Ederson's arrival is sealed, with further midfield reinforcements expected, whilst targets at left-back and left wing are also being pursued.
