Man Utd Among Clubs Monitoring Kane as Bayern Contract Talks Stall

Harry Kane has caught the attention of Manchester United and several other top-flight outfits as his contract renewal discussions with Bayern Munich have failed to gain traction.

The England captain remains under contract at the Bundesliga club until summer 2027, with one year remaining on his current terms. Yet despite another stellar campaign—48 goals and five assists across 39 appearances in all competitions—negotiations over an extension to 2028 or 2029 have stalled.

Since his €110m switch from Tottenham in the summer of 2023, Kane has been nothing short of prolific in Bavaria. His tally now stands at 133 goals in 136 matches across all competitions, marking a seamless transition to German football.

Bayern sporting director Max Eberl acknowledged the ongoing talks earlier this year, telling Sky Germany: "We are talking to Harry. Everyone knows at some point a decision has to be made."

However, Bayern honorary president Uli Hoeness has voiced concerns that Kane might be tempted away, particularly if a Saudi club comes calling with substantial financial muscle. Speaking to Kicker, Hoeness said: "He didn't exercise his release clause, which means he's definitely under contract here until summer 2027. What I'm hearing and feeling is that he and his family feel extremely comfortable here. You never know when a Saudi comes along and puts a lot of money on the table… But he feels very much at home."

Hoeness remains confident in Kane's longevity at the highest level, adding: "Harry Kane can play at this level for at least another three or four years, because he's a perfect professional who takes care of his body. He's always at rehab and with the physios."

Yet reports now suggest Kane has alerted Premier League heavyweights, including Manchester United, to his availability as the Bayern contract situation remains unresolved. Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown, who maintains strong connections at Old Trafford, believes the Red Devils and their rivals would be remiss not to investigate.

"Harry Kane's future is going to be interesting," Brown told Football Insider. "A lot will depend on what he wants to do, because everybody you speak to says he's happy at Bayern Munich, but now it's been suggested he could be tempted away. When people are saying things like that, of course you're going to be aware of it."

Brown continued: "If his contract talks maybe aren't going as planned and they think he could be tempted to go to Saudi, what's stopping a Premier League club from making a move? Whoever it may be, Man United maybe or any other club, if Kane is considering leaving Bayern Munich they would be silly not to be having a look."

The prospect of Kane returning to English football has long held appeal, particularly given his unfinished business chasing Alan Shearer's all-time goalscoring record. "He might want to return to England and have a go at breaking Shearer's record, that was all the talk when he was leaving Tottenham," Brown noted.

"By all accounts, I think he's happy at Bayern and that's probably not going to change, but if there is a suggestion he could leave, the interest will be there."
