Manchester United Ready to Offload Rashford to Barcelona at Reduced Price

Manchester United appear ready to finally pull the trigger on shipping Marcus Rashford out the door, with Barcelona set to land the forward at a bargain basement price after an extended saga.
The Old Trafford hierarchy have effectively waved the white flag, prepared to sanction a cut-price departure for Rashford this summer as INEOS look to trim the bloated wage bill. The Catalan club remain keen despite their move for Anthony Gordon, and United are now open to making a deal happen on Barcelona's terms.
Rashford's time at United has been turbulent to say the least. His relationship with Ruben Amorim fractured severely 18 months ago, leading to a half-year spell at Aston Villa before his loan switch to Barcelona this season. Even Amorim's subsequent exit hasn't altered the club's stance—they simply want him gone.
The original arrangement included a €30m buyout clause, but United appear ready to negotiate further. With Rashford now pocketing substantially more following Champions League qualification bonuses, the Red Devils are desperate to get his salary off the books in any fashion possible.
Mount's Misstep Comes Back to Haunt United
Meanwhile, Mason Mount presents another headache for the club's hierarchy, with the midfielder facing a pay bump to around £250,000 per week. Former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness believes incoming boss Michael Carrick faces a monumental task in salvaging what many view as a flawed transfer decision.
"There's still a legacy of mistakes buried in those contracts that United have to handle," Wyness explained. "It's easy to rush a deal through when a player is flavour of the month, but you end up living with that decision for years."
Mount was supposed to be the missing piece in United's Champions League puzzle, yet injuries and poor form have rendered him largely peripheral. Wyness reckons shifting Mount on won't prove straightforward given his wage packet, leaving Carrick to extract maximum value from a player the club arguably got wrong from day one.
"This falls on Carrick now to try and get the best out of him," Wyness concluded. "It's going to be a tough gig."
