Bruno Guimaraes Edges Closer to Manchester United as Personal Terms Agreed

Manchester United have reached an agreement on personal terms with Newcastle's Bruno Guimaraes, according to reports filtering through from the northeast and beyond. The midfielder's representatives are actively lobbying INEOS chiefs to broker a transfer with the Magpies this summer.

The speculation surrounding Guimaraes and Old Trafford has intensified in recent weeks as United pursue reinforcements in midfield. With Casemiro set to depart at season's end, the club are keen to bolster their engine room – and the Brazilian midfielder's international teammate has apparently thrown his hat into the ring, having reportedly urged United to move for his fellow countryman as a replacement.

Fabrizio Romano confirmed over the weekend that meaningful dialogue has taken place. Speaking on his YouTube channel, the transfer specialist revealed: "What I can confirm is that, yes, a meeting did take place in recent weeks. It wasn't held yesterday, today or tomorrow, but rather a few weeks ago between Guimaraes' representatives and Manchester United. The information from Brazil is accurate: a meeting was held, and United maintain a good relationship with the agency."

Romano added context to the broader picture, noting that whilst Guimaraes is admired, several other options remain under consideration. "From there, meetings can lead to agreements on personal terms, and eventually to registering the player in the summer, but there is still a long way to go," he said. "Bruno Guimaraes is admired by Manchester United, yes, but so too is Tonali, and other players are on the list, including Elliot Anderson."

Now an X account comprising five elite reporters claims to have received confirmation that the 27-year-old has indeed put pen to paper on terms with the Red Devils. The outlet stated: "Our trusted source in Manchester is informing us that Bruno Guimaraes has agreed personal terms with Manchester United. Bruno Guimaraes's advisors are pushing Manchester United to reach an agreement with Newcastle United."

The sticking point, naturally, is Newcastle. The Magpies show little appetite for selling their captain and would demand significant compensation – valuations in the region of £100million have been mooted. Eddie Howe sought to dampen speculation when quizzed on the matter on March 20, saying: "I don't even know how to respond to that. It is a waste of my energy. Bruno is our captain and he is fully committed at the moment. He is injured at the moment; his only focus is coming back to fitness."

Guimaraes remains contracted to Newcastle until the summer of 2028, handing the northeast club considerable leverage in any negotiation.
