Bournemouth are expected to retain Semenyo's services for their next two matches, with the release clause operative only during the first ten days of January. The south coast club are clearly intent on running down the window to its absolute limit before waving goodbye to their prized asset.

The pursuit of Semenyo has been nothing short of a free-for-all among the division's heavyweights. Chelsea made enquiries. Liverpool took a long look. Tottenham even tabled an offer, only to be rebuffed. Yet the Etihad's pull proved irresistible—City ultimately proved the most attractive proposition on offer.
