Manchester City have put a figure on what it would take to prise Erling Haaland away this summer, with Real Madrid reportedly eyeing a blockbuster swoop for the Norwegian marksman.

Sky Sports Deutschland revealed on Thursday that Florentino Pérez is harbouring ambitions of landing the City striker as early as the forthcoming transfer window. The outlet noted that Haaland himself views Real Madrid as his ultimate destination and remains enamoured with Spain, though any move faces substantial hurdles—not least the striker's contract running through to 2034.

The financial demands are eye-watering. Initial reports suggested City would demand in excess of €500 million, though Spanish outlet Fichajes counters that the actual asking price sits at €200 million—which would still represent the second-most expensive transfer ever completed.

There's another complication too: Real Madrid would first need to move Vinicius Junior to make room for Haaland's arrival.

The Madrid situation has been turbulent. Xabi Alonso was sacked on Monday following a 3-2 defeat to Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup, with Álvaro Arbeloa stepping in as replacement. Yet here's where it gets interesting for City: reports emerging from Spain suggest that Klopp's first demand upon arrival could be the sale of Vinicius Junior. Sources claim the 31-year-old views the Brazilian winger as a difficult character to manage, incompatible with the disciplinary standards he'd want to impose. Klopp apparently sees Vinicius as a potential threat to team harmony—precisely the sort of disruption he's unwilling to tolerate if he takes the Madrid job.
