Wirtz's Agent Pushes Real Madrid Dream as Juventus Circle Alisson

Volker Struth, the agent representing Liverpool's Florian Wirtz, has made clear his ambition to eventually see his client playing at the Bernabéu, despite the German midfielder's summer switch to Anfield from Bayer Leverkusen for approximately £116m.

The Reds beat off interest from Bayern Munich and Manchester City to land Wirtz last summer, and the playmaker has developed into a key figure at Liverpool following a measured start to his debut campaign. Real Madrid had been mooted as a potential destination, particularly given the presence of Xabi Alonso at the Spanish club following his spell managing Leverkusen, but Carlo Ancelotti's side ultimately decided against pursuing him.

Struth has now lifted the lid on his attempts to convince the Madrid hierarchy to make a move. Speaking to BILD, he revealed that he had contacted Alonso directly during the period when Liverpool and Bayern were competing for Wirtz's signature, urging the former midfielder to bring the talent with him to Spain. Alonso's response was characteristically pragmatic—telling Struth that the pitch needed to be made to Florentino Pérez, Real Madrid's president.

Struth duly obliged, sending a message to Pérez highlighting Wirtz's quality. "Florian Wirtz makes every team in the world better," the agent told the Madrid chief.

Appearing on the Phrasenmaher podcast, Struth doubled down on his ambitions for his client. He acknowledged that the timing simply wasn't right during the summer window, with Real Madrid's finances not stretching to the deal. "My wish remains that Florian will play there one day," Struth insisted, adding that he believed Wirtz would be "in very good hands" at the Bernabéu.

The agent conceded that Wirtz is "doing quite well in Liverpool now" and emphasised his client's youth, leaving the door open for future developments in his career path.

Meanwhile, Liverpool's underwhelming campaign appears set to trigger a summer clearout, with goalkeeper Alisson among those potentially heading for the exit. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus are preparing to make the Brazilian their primary goalkeeping target should they fail to land Tottenham's Guglielmo Vicario. Vicario would command a fee around £25m, but Alisson represents a more feasible alternative given his contractual position and age profile.
