Here's where matters become intriguing. Should PSG land Diomande, Romano believes Bradley Barcola could become a genuine departure candidate from the French capital. Liverpool's interest in the winger never entirely evaporated after a failed August 2025 approach, and the club remains monitoring his situation closely.

"If Diomande joins PSG, then Bradley Barcola could really leave PSG this summer," Romano explained. "Liverpool wanted Barcola in August 2025, but it was not possible to proceed at that time. Liverpool remain interested in Barcola."

The scenario presents a fascinating domino effect: PSG sign Diomande, Liverpool pivot to Barcola, or alternatively, Diomande ends up at Anfield instead. Arsenal have also registered interest in Barcola, adding another layer of complexity to proceedings.

Gordon's Stock Falls

Anthony Gordon, who generated strong Liverpool intrigue last summer, has slipped down the Reds' pecking order. While the Newcastle winger remains a known quantity to Slot's recruitment team, Romano insists he no longer occupies the same priority level as Diomande or Barcola.

"At the moment, my understanding is that Anthony Gordon is not as high on Liverpool's shortlist," Romano noted. "In terms of preference, Liverpool currently favour Diomande and Bradley Barcola."
