The Merseyside club's willingness to splash the cash represents a dramatic continuation of their spending spree. Last summer saw the Reds invest north of £400m backing new boss Arne Slot, who delivered a Premier League title in his maiden campaign. That lavish approach saw Liverpool land proven commodities including Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak.
