Liverpool Circling Bayern's Lennart Karl in €100m Summer Push

Liverpool are refusing to abandon their pursuit of Bayern Munich's Lennart Karl this summer, even as the German club works on fresh terms with the precocious teenager.

The Reds have already bolstered their attacking midfield ranks with Florian Wirtz's arrival from Bayer Leverkusen last summer, yet they're continuing to scout for further quality in that department. Karl has been firmly on their radar since the club made their interest public earlier in the campaign.

The 18-year-old has attracted considerable attention from across Europe's elite. Arsenal are among the suitors tracking the youngster, who revealed his admiration for Martin Odegaard back in November 2025. Speaking about the similarities between himself and the Gunners playmaker, Karl noted: "He's also a left-footer, plays in the playmaker position and has good vision and a good shot."

Karl remains contracted to Bayern until 2029, with negotiations underway over an improved deal. That hasn't deterred Liverpool, however. According to German sources, the Merseyside outfit are in constant dialogue regarding a 2026 summer transfer. Liverpool's scouting department has regularly watched the midfielder in action, keeping tabs on his progress.

The competition for Karl's signature is fierce. Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle United, and Real Madrid have all expressed interest. Bayern, meanwhile, are in no rush to sell. The Bavarian giants value their academy graduate at up to €100 million and are not actively seeking a departure.

Karl has impressed this season with seven goals and four assists across 31 appearances. Observers have likened his game to a fusion of Thomas Muller's intelligence and Odegaard's technical quality. The teenager is equally comfortable operating as a winger, adding another dimension to his appeal.

Liverpool's Bayern shopping list extends beyond Karl. Michael Olise sits high on their wishlist as a potential successor to Mohamed Salah, should the Egyptian's future become uncertain beyond this season. The club have reportedly dangled Cody Gakpo as a potential makeweight in negotiations for the winger.

Konrad Laimer is another Bavarian on their radar. The Austria international's versatility—capable of operating as both midfielder and right-back—appeals to the defending Premier League champions. Whilst Liverpool have reportedly considered a €40 million offer, Laimer himself harbours no desire to leave Bayern and shows no inclination to push for a move.
