Alisson Staying Put: Liverpool Block Juventus Approach as Reds Retain Goalkeeper

The Alisson-to-Juventus saga appears to be over before it properly began. Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Liverpool management have made their stance crystal clear to their Brazilian keeper: they want him staying put.

It's been a summer of departures at Anfield already. Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson both played their final matches for the club on Sunday against Brentford, leaving supporters nursing considerable goodbyes. The prospect of losing Alisson too would have added another layer of pain to what's already been a disappointing campaign on Merseyside.

The Italian side had certainly been sniffing around. Juventus put a formal offer on the table back in April, dangling a longer contract—potentially two-plus-one or three years—in front of the 32-year-old stopper. With Liverpool holding just twelve months remaining on his deal and Giorgi Mamardashvili waiting in the wings as a replacement, the scenario didn't seem entirely far-fetched.

According to Romano, speaking on his YouTube channel, the situation has shifted dramatically in the past day. Liverpool's hierarchy, alongside manager Arne Slot, have delivered a direct message to Alisson: they believe in him and want him continuing as their number one.

The keeper was tempted by what Juventus offered, Romano explained. However, the crux of the matter is Alisson's character. He's never been interested in forcing his way out or damaging his standing as a Liverpool legend. His willingness to entertain the Italian move hinged entirely on receiving the club's blessing to leave—a blessing that simply won't be coming.

"He never wanted to break his relationship or legacy with Liverpool," Romano noted. "So that's never been the case."

The only route out now, should Alisson have a change of heart, would be for him to actively push for a departure himself. For now, Liverpool's position remains firm: their goalkeeper stays, and the club—from management through to Slot in the dugout—are backing him to remain a key figure in their rebuild.
