Chiesa's Liverpool exit 'increasingly likely' as Reds set €20m asking price

Federico Chiesa appears destined to exit Liverpool this summer after the Italian winger made clear he will seek pastures new if game time remains elusive at Anfield.

The 26-year-old arrived from Juventus in summer 2024 for approximately £12.5m—a calculated gamble on a low-cost acquisition that has failed to pay dividends. Injuries plagued his early months on Merseyside, and he's since languished as a peripheral figure under Arne Slot's tenure, making meaningful contributions a rarity across two seasons.

Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, Chiesa laid bare his frustration with his situation. "I've played very little since the start of 2026," he explained, acknowledging Liverpool's January request that he remain on the books despite limited involvement. "I want to play. If I don't find consistency in the Premier League, I'll have to look elsewhere."

The winger, who helped Liverpool secure the Premier League title last season despite his reduced role, signalled his willingness to fight for a starting berth—but anywhere, not necessarily at Anfield. He indicated discussions with incoming manager Andoni Iraola during pre-season would prove decisive.

Liverpool have now seemingly accepted the inevitable. The club are open to offers in the region of €20m (£17m) for Chiesa, with sources indicating the player will be informed during pre-season preparations that his departure has the green light.

Napoli and Como are monitoring developments, though Liverpool's €20m valuation may prove prohibitive for potential suitors. Both clubs could explore loan options initially, though the Reds' preference remains a permanent transfer. Whether they'll soften their stance on loan arrangements with an obligation to buy remains to be seen.
