Liverpool Plot Midfield Overhaul with £86m Ligue 1 Double Swoop

Liverpool are preparing for a significant midfield rebuild this summer, with the Merseyside club zeroing in on a pair of Ligue 1 talents as they look to freshen up their squad.

The Reds appear set to retain Arne Slot in the dugout despite earlier speculation about potential changes. Having claimed the Premier League crown last term, Liverpool's campaign this season has proven considerably more challenging, with a top-four finish now the realistic target as they prepare for Sunday's finale.

Securing Champions League football will prove crucial for Liverpool's financial planning heading into the transfer window, and strengthening their midfield has clearly become a priority.

According to reports, Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara has emerged as the primary target. The Senegal international has caught Liverpool's attention, though Newcastle's interest is reportedly pushing the Merseyside club to accelerate their pursuit. Valued at €50m (£43m), the deal represents a substantial outlay but hardly beyond Liverpool's reach.

Camara isn't the only name on the wish list, however. RC Lens midfielder Mamadou Sangare is also being monitored, with his club holding a similar €50m (£43m) valuation as Premier League interest intensifies around the midfielder.

Liverpool expert Bence Bocsak at Anfield Watch suggested such a double acquisition feels almost inevitable, commenting: "This double transfer has a sense of inevitability to it. This is Edwards' footprint and it will be the stuff of dreams for Liverpool fans when he pulls it off."

Martinez agreement confirmed

Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano has signalled the "here we go" on another Liverpool signing—this one for the future. The transfer insider confirmed that 17-year-old Samuel Martinez from Atletico Nacional will join Liverpool once he reaches 18 in 2027.

Romano explained that both Borussia Dortmund and another unnamed European heavyweight had attempted to hijack the deal, but Liverpool have secured terms with both the player and his Colombian club. The agreement includes a sell-on clause designed to expedite negotiations, with the teenager's arrival now locked in for 2027.
