Chiesa Sets Exit Condition as Liverpool Struggles Continue; Offers Jones Italy Insights

Federico Chiesa is preparing for difficult conversations at Anfield this summer, with the Italian winger making clear that his future depends entirely on whether new boss Andoni Iraola can offer him genuine playing time.

Arriving from Juventus for approximately £12.5m in the 2024 summer window, Chiesa has become something of a peripheral figure on Merseyside. His stint at Liverpool has failed to flourish, leaving both player and club pondering a parting of ways.

"I want to play regularly, if I don't find continuity in Premier League I have to look elsewhere," the 26-year-old explained, signalling his intentions plainly. "The first year of Liverpool I practically didn't play… I'm going to pre season tour in the USA, then I'll talk to the club and the new coach Iraola and we'll see."

Chiesa's departure from Turin wasn't entirely of his choosing. Despite maintaining deep affection for Juventus, he found the door firmly shut when Thiago Motta and Giuntoli informed him to seek employment elsewhere. No new contract materialised, and no financial inducements were discussed—a point Chiesa emphasised with some feeling.

"Juventus will always be in my heart, and I would love to return one day. I never discussed money with Juventus, and I never will—I would have never left Juventus," he stated. "I was never offered a renewal."

While Chiesa contemplates his own situation, he's been offering guidance to fellow Red Curtis Jones, who's attracting interest from Inter Milan. When Jones inquired about life in Italy, Chiesa painted an enticing picture.

"Jones asked me what it's like living in Italy," Chiesa revealed. "I told him it's brilliant and the weather's much better than in Liverpool. Curtis is technically outstanding, Inter are right to be considering him."

Former Manchester United forward Giuseppe Rossi believes Chiesa could thrive elsewhere in the Premier League, specifically suggesting Newcastle as a potential destination where the winger might rediscover his best form.

"I could see Chiesa thriving at a team like Newcastle," Rossi told Ozoon. "Federico needs to find continuity and the right environment to showcase what he's capable of. He has a lot to prove and a lot to give, but it's all up to him."

Rossi urged patience with his compatriot, harking back to Chiesa's stellar performances during Euro 2020 when he proved instrumental for the Azzurri. "We hope he can rediscover the form he showed back in 2020 when we won the Euros; he was such an important piece for us. He's one of the best wingers out there, and even though he hasn't quite lived up to the hype recently, he has the capability. I have great faith that he can turn it around, he just needs to want it."

With Iraola's appointment bringing fresh dynamics to Liverpool's summer planning, Chiesa's availability could yet prove significant in the coming weeks.
