Klopp Set to Axe Camavinga at Madrid as Liverpool Circle Waiting

Liverpool supporters have reason to smile after learning that incoming Real Madrid boss Jurgen Klopp is prepared to ship out Eduardo Camavinga—precisely the player Fenway Sports Group have been eyeing for Anfield.

The Reds' interest in the French midfielder for a summer 2026 transfer emerged earlier this month, with the defending Premier League champions tracking a player capable of operating both in midfield and at left-back for Los Blancos.

Negotiations are reportedly underway involving a swap arrangement that would see Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister head to the Spanish capital, with Camavinga moving in the opposite direction. Real Madrid are themselves keen to freshen their midfield ranks this summer, and Mac Allister sits high on their wish list.

According to Spanish reports, Klopp has already begun laying out his plans for the Bernabéu, and disposing of the 23-year-old French international ranks high among his priorities. The German tactician is said to have drawn up an extensive list of players deemed surplus to requirements, with Camavinga firmly on it.

"He is one of the names that do not fit into the German coach's plans, and that he considers that they must leave the Santiago Bernabeu urgently," one report stated.

Klopp's appointment appears imminent, with Álvaro Arbeloa's tenure as Madrid manager seemingly approaching its end.

Injury Woes and Stagnation

Madrid's own assessment of Camavinga has grown increasingly damning. Spanish media outlets have painted a picture of a midfielder whose development has flatlined since joining the club five years ago at just 18 years old. His injury troubles over the past two seasons have only compounded concerns about his trajectory.

One analysis noted: "The technical assessment from Real Madrid's sporting management is that Camavinga is not progressing; he has stagnated since being fundamental in winning the last two Champions League titles. He played in the final in London against Borussia Dortmund, replacing Tchouameni, and performed well. That was two seasons ago. Now he is no longer reliable."

Reports suggest Madrid have valued Camavinga at €70million (£61m), though his recent form and fitness record will likely weigh on any negotiation.
