Murphy's Verdict: Slot Must Win a Cup to Save His Liverpool Future

The pressure continues to mount on Arne Slot at Anfield, and according to former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy, there is one clear way for the Dutch boss to secure his future beyond the summer.

Liverpool's campaign has unravelled dramatically since claiming their 20th Premier League crown last season. The former midfielder acknowledged the mitigating circumstances—only two of the five summer signings have truly impressed, whilst most of last season's squad has underperformed—but ultimately concluded that trophies are non-negotiable at a club of Liverpool's stature. "When you're at the top, even if you have a bad season, for Liverpool you're expected to win something," Murphy observed.

With six to eight weeks potentially decisive, Slot faces a defining period. Captain Virgil van Dijk has already stressed the importance of the FA Cup run, declaring that silverware remains the club's primary objective regardless of the circumstances surrounding their season.
