Salah's Saudi Dream in Jeopardy as Inter Miami Circle for Free Agent Winger

Mohamed Salah's exit from Liverpool took a curious twist this week, with his widely-expected switch to Saudi Arabia now cast into doubt by geopolitical complications.

The 33-year-old forward will depart Anfield on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the season, a separation mutually agreed during the international break. Though Salah technically has a year remaining, both club and player have determined a summer departure serves everyone's interests following a season that saw his performances dip dramatically from the heights of last campaign, when he was instrumental in Liverpool's 20th title triumph.

The fall-off in form coincided with tension between Salah and manager Arne Slot, resulting in the winger finding himself benched and subsequently dropped in and out of the starting XI.

According to Football Insider, the prospective Saudi Pro League move—long considered the frontrunner destination—now faces collapse if the Iran conflict persists. The report suggests Inter Miami, David Beckham's MLS outfit, are readying a substantial package to tempt Salah westward as an alternative.

"The Liverpool star, 33, has been sounded out about a move to Saudi Arabia in a mega-money deal, but any potential deal could collapse if the Iran war continues," the outlet stated. "David Beckham's Inter Miami are showing strong interest in the winger and are ready to offer Salah a lucrative alternative."

Club legend Steven Gerrard has weighed in on the situation, insisting Salah's departure works in everyone's favour. Speaking on the Stick to Football podcast, Gerrard revealed he'd counselled the Egyptian directly about the circumstances.

"I think it's in everyone's best interests now," Gerrard said. "The timing's right in my opinion. He's obviously had a disagreement with the manager, I don't know at what level because he's done the interview which I think he'll regret further down the line."

Gerrard suggested the falling-out stemmed partly from Salah's difficulty adjusting to Slot's tactical demands and selection decisions. "He was in and out of the team at the time. He was upset. I just thought it would be a shame if he left in January," Gerrard added.

The ex-Liverpool skipper emphasised that Salah remains convinced of his world-class standing and deserves a dignified exit after eight or nine years as a Reds cornerstone. "You've been a king here. You've got this legacy, just go on your terms the right way," Gerrard had told him.
