Jacobs Names Seven Targets as Liverpool Plot Summer Overhaul with Two Winger Recruitment Drive

Liverpool are gearing up for a significant recruitment operation this summer, with plans to bring in two fresh wingers as Mohamed Salah's departure becomes official following his nine-year spell at Anfield since arriving from Roma.

The Reds' search for attacking reinforcements has intensified following confirmation of Salah's exit, whilst uncertainty also surrounds Cody Gakpo's future, with the club reportedly testing the market regarding their left-sided option.

Journalist Ben Jacobs has identified seven potential targets across three positions Liverpool are targeting. The recruitment strategy centres on sourcing a Salah successor for the right flank, whilst a new left winger is also high on the agenda following Luis Diaz's move to Bayern. Leipzig's Yan Diomande sits prominently on that list, with the winger also attracting attention from Manchester United and Bayern themselves. The German club's €100m valuation is expected to soften as summer approaches, according to sources.

Elsewhere, Bayern's firm stance on Michael Olise rules out a move, whilst PSG show no appetite for parting with Bradley Barcola following their commitment to extending the forward's contract. Similar resistance exists around Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, despite Arsenal links. Anthony Gordon remains in Liverpool's thinking, with the Everton winger nearly joining the club during last summer's window.

Reports linking Francisco Conceição have been downplayed by those close to the situation. Beyond the wing positions, a more central creative presence capable of operating across the attacking third is being considered, with Morgan Rodgers among those drawing appreciation from Merseyside, though his recent contract extension may complicate any potential move.

Regarding Salah's next destination, Fabrizio Romano has outlined the forward's options. Saudi Arabia remains a persistent suitor, with the Pro League viewing the Egyptian as the flagship signing for their project's global expansion and marketing reach. Saudi clubs came calling aggressively last summer whilst Jurgen Klopp remained in charge, only to be rebuffed.

Paris Saint-Germain have also held discussions, though talks never progressed beyond preliminary stages. Premier League clubs made contact before Salah's last renewal, though nothing materialised. Romano noted that Salah's current priority is simply leaving Liverpool, with his choice between remaining in Europe or accepting the Saudi opportunity still to be determined.
