Iraola's Liverpool Overhaul Begins: Eight Players Face Uncertain Futures as Brazilian Keeper Stays Put

Andoni Iraola has wasted little time making his mark at Liverpool, with his first significant act as manager being to block Alisson's departure to Serie A, according to reports.
The Spanish tactician officially took the helm on Thursday, succeeding Arne Slot after his stint at Bournemouth came to an end. In his initial statement to club media, Iraola expressed his enthusiasm for the role, describing Liverpool as a "massive club" and emphasising the appeal of competing for titles with top-class players.
"Really excited, really excited," he told the Reds' channels. "You don't need a lot of things to get attracted by Liverpool. Liverpool is Liverpool. The atmosphere, the supporters, the club, the players, the chance to coach top-level players, the chance to fight for titles—it cannot be more attractive than this."
However, Iraola's arrival signals sweeping changes across the squad. Andy Robertson, Ibrahima Konate and Mohamed Salah are already confirmed to be leaving Merseyside this summer, while Juventus had been circling Alisson with designs on bringing the goalkeeper to Turin.
That move now appears dead in the water. Italian outlet Gazzetta Dello Sport reports that Iraola "has no intention of letting him go," with the Brazilian set to remain as the club's number one next term. The publication suggests Alisson will make fresh attempts to convince the Reds hierarchy to sanction a switch, but Juventus harbour few illusions about their prospects. The Serie A giants are now considering alternatives, with Aston Villa's Emiliano Martinez and Tottenham's Guglielmo Vicario on their radar.
Should Alisson stay—as now appears likely—Giorgi Mamardashvili, who arrived from Valencia last summer, could find himself on his way out instead.
Yet the goalkeeper saga represents just one strand of Liverpool's summer rebuild. Liverpool.com claims that as many as eight players face an uncertain future under Iraola's watch. Beyond Alisson, Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott, Joe Gomez, Alexis Mac Allister, Wataru Endo and Federico Chiesa are all named among those potentially heading for the exits.
The Merseyside club is simultaneously plotting multiple arrivals to reshape the squad in Iraola's image, with fresh faces already being targeted as the summer window gathers pace.
