Iraola's Liverpool Shopping List: Rayan, Diomande, and the £130m Winger Puzzle

Andoni Iraola's appointment as Liverpool manager was confirmed on Thursday, with the incoming boss signing a two-year deal to take the reins from Arne Slot. Now the real work begins.
The new Reds boss arrives with a reputation for attacking, front-foot football—a marked departure from his predecessor's more cautious approach—and that's already warming the hearts of supporters tired of watching paint dry at Anfield.
Yet Iraola inherits a squad that spectacularly failed to defend its Premier League crown, leaving plenty of work to do in the transfer market. With Mohamed Salah departed on a free transfer, Liverpool's right flank looks decidedly threadbare, and there's genuine concern about losing teenage talent Rio Ngumoha to Bayern Munich as well.
According to reports, Iraola has zeroed in on three key positions he wants to strengthen this summer: a winger to fill the Salah void, a right-back, and a midfielder. It's an ambitious agenda for a team that needs to rebuild quickly.
Rayan, the Bournemouth winger who arrived from Vasco de Gama for around £25m in January, tops that wishlist. Iraola worked with the Brazilian at Bournemouth and is a keen admirer, making him an obvious target. The 21-year-old has hit the ground running in the Premier League, notching five goals and two assists in his opening dozen matches.
Here's the snag: Bournemouth have slapped a release clause on him that kicks in come January, but at £130m, it's an astronomical figure designed to keep him put. The club fully expects him to stay through the summer window at minimum, with the clause set to decrease in value each subsequent January. Liverpool will almost certainly have to wait, or find an alternative.
Yan Diomande is also on Iraola's radar as part of this three-pronged approach to the transfer window. The market itself is expected to be a more modest affair than last summer's spending spree, meaning Liverpool will need to be shrewd about how they deploy their resources.
