Liverpool Eye Ambitious Double Swoop for Olise and Diomande in £200m Summer Overhaul

Liverpool are plotting a major summer spending spree with two £100million-plus targets firmly in their sights, as Arne Slot seeks to remedy the squad's glaring shortcomings following a disastrous campaign.

The Reds' collapse this season has been nothing short of remarkable. Despite investing over £400million last summer after clinching the Premier League title, they have managed just two victories in their last 10 league matches—effectively surrendering any realistic hopes of back-to-back titles and now scrambling simply to secure Champions League football.

Slot has been forthright in his assessment of where things have gone wrong, pointing to the unavailability of players worth €200m across the season. The Liverpool manager has stressed that spending €250m on "replacements" rather than "additions" has fundamentally weakened his hand.

"From the €450m that we spent, I have only been able to use €250m," Slot explained. "Alexander Isak has never been fit so far. Giovanni Leoni is ruled out for the entire season. Jeremie Frimpong has only had an impact in five or six games. We bought a second goalkeeper for €35m (Giorgi Mamardashvili) who barely plays."

Now, according to reports, Liverpool are preparing to strike again in the transfer market with a dual assault on Europe's elite. Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise and RB Leipzig defender Yan Diomande are the targets, with the Reds reportedly in contact with Olise's representatives and ready to activate his release clause once personal terms are settled.

Olise has been nothing short of exceptional in the Bundesliga this season, amassing 10 goals and 13 assists across 22 appearances. His form represents a marked improvement on last campaign, when he registered 26 goal involvements as Bayern claimed the title—a feat they appear set to repeat under Vincent Kompany's stewardship.

The France international's valuation presents a significant hurdle, with estimates ranging from £100m to £150m. Such an outlay would typically render the deal improbable, yet Liverpool's willingness to smash their transfer record twice in a single window last summer means it cannot be entirely dismissed.

Diomande would arrive as an additional piece of the puzzle, with Liverpool keen to bolster their ranks alongside the Bayern man in the 2026 summer window. Combined, the pair would command a fee exceeding £200m—a statement of intent that underscores Slot's desperation to revitalise an attack increasingly reliant on an ageing Mohamed Salah and an inconsistent Cody Gakpo.

There remains a curious contradiction lurking in the background: Bayern chief Max Eberl confirmed in October that Olise's contract contains no release clause whatsoever, which directly contradicts the latest reporting on the matter.
