Liverpool Table Substantial Bid for Camavinga as Transfer Race Heats Up

Liverpool have positioned themselves as the leading contenders to lure Eduardo Camavinga from Real Madrid, having tabled what's being described as a substantial offer for the midfielder.

The Reds' summer spending—which exceeded £400m—appears increasingly questionable in retrospect. Many of their marquee arrivals have disappointed since touching down at Anfield, whilst established players have similarly failed to deliver the goods. Arne Slot's outfit have mounted a decidedly unconvincing title defence, leaving them needing reinforcements across multiple departments come summer, particularly at centre-back and on the wing.

Camavinga has periodically surfaced in Liverpool's transfer orbit, and the club had previously targeted the Frenchman before his switch to the Bernabéu. Spanish outlet Fichajes now reports that Liverpool have "made a huge offer" for the 23-year-old, establishing themselves as the frontrunners for his signature. Real Madrid, it's suggested, are prepared to entertain his departure.

The reported package is worth approximately €70 million—around £60m—a figure Madrid would apparently find palatable. According to the outlet, this sum represents compelling business for the Spanish giants, allowing them to recoup funds on a player who has underperformed expectations whilst liberating a crowded midfield.

For Camavinga, the prospect of English football holds obvious appeal: the Premier League's physicality, a more central role within the team, and the chance to compete in Europe's elite competition as part of a Liverpool project hunting silverware.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have been sniffing around the right-back market following Conor Bradley's injury. Fabrizio Romano has clarified the club's thinking on two potential targets, however.

Regarding Inter's Denzel Dumfries, Romano explained that Liverpool conducted a club-to-club chat with the Serie A outfit, enquiring about the Dutch full-back's availability and fitness. Whilst Dumfries' €20-25m release clause exists, it's only valid in summer windows. His expected absence of 10-20 days means Liverpool would only consider a temporary deal, but Inter aren't entertaining loan arrangements. No formal bid has been lodged, and negotiations haven't commenced.

On Givairo Read, Romano noted that Liverpool are aware of the player but haven't entered into discussions. His injury is more significant than Dumfries' setback, which prompted Liverpool to shelve any enquiries. Bayern Munich and Manchester City remain tracking the prospect for the summer window.
