Szoboszlai's Agent Dismisses Real Madrid Speculation as Liverpool Move Talk Intensifies

Liverpool can breathe a sigh of relief after Dominik Szoboszlai's agent has firmly shut down whispers of a Real Madrid exit, even as his Hungary counterpart stoked the flames by publicly discussing the midfielder's long-held ambitions.

The Reds have already seen Trent Alexander-Arnold depart for the Bernabéu, with Ibrahima Konate also reportedly keen on a move away. When Hungary boss Marco Rossi told Qatari outlet Winwin that Szoboszlai harboured a lifelong dream of playing for Madrid, Liverpool supporters understandably began bracing for yet another bombshell departure.

Rossi's comments were unambiguous. "From what I have heard and what I know, and because of the very good and direct relationship I have had with Dominik since he started playing football as a child, Real Madrid was his dream," the national team manager said. "Dominik, ever since he started playing football, has had one dream, which is to play for Real Madrid."

The prospect sent shivers through the Anfield faithful, particularly given the 25-year-old's stellar contributions this campaign. Yet his representative, Matyas Esterhazy, has moved swiftly to extinguish the speculation, telling Hungary's NB1 that any talk of departures remains premature and off the agenda.

"It's completely normal for the public, when Dominik is performing like this, to talk about what's next and if there's something higher," Esterhazy explained. "For us it's not a topic. We are mid-season; he has a lot of work ahead of him in the Premier League, the FA Cup and the Champions League."

The agent emphasised that Szoboszlai views European football as a priority and that discussing summer movements at this juncture would be counterproductive. "He has said many times how important this competition is for him. So at the moment to talk about what will happen in the summer in my opinion is not correct," Esterhazy continued.

He further pointed to Liverpool's status among Europe's elite and his client's integral role within the squad structure. "Not to mention, Liverpool are one of the biggest clubs in the world and Dominik is in a position within the team that has a lot of reserve. So we are not looking outside or elsewhere."

Despite what has been a testing campaign for the Reds, Szoboszlai has emerged as a beacon of consistency and leadership—arguably the club's standout performer amid the broader struggles. Recognising his importance, Liverpool are understood to be prioritising a fresh contract extension beyond his current deal, which runs until 2028.

According to reports, Szoboszlai's camp are targeting a package worth approximately £250,000 per week, with Liverpool reportedly prepared to meet those demands. For context, the club's marquee summer signings Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak pocket £200,000 and £280,000 weekly respectively, while Virgil van Dijk commands £350,000. Only Mohamed Salah, on £400,000 per week, earns more at Anfield.

The heightened foreign interest in Szoboszlai has only sharpened Liverpool's resolve to secure their prized midfielder's future.
