Liverpool Circle Back for Senesi as Spurs Deal Hangs in Balance

Marcos Senesi looks set for a summer move away from Bournemouth, with the Argentine defender having caught the attention of several top-flight suitors following an impressive campaign on the south coast. The 28-year-old has established himself as one of the Premier League's most reliable centre-backs this term, playing a key role in Bournemouth's push towards Champions League qualification.

With his contract running down to its final weeks, Senesi's departure appears inevitable. Whilst Barcelona and various members of the Big Six have circled, Tottenham have seemingly stolen a march on their rivals, having reportedly reached an agreement to bring the defender to North London as a free agent.

Yet Liverpool are not quite ready to concede defeat in this particular race. The Merseyside club are actively tracking Senesi as a relatively economical option to bolster their defensive ranks and add depth to their centre-back options.

According to talkSPORT, the Reds are "contemplating making a rival offer" and could still pull off a coup—but two significant hurdles would need to clear first. The move hinges on Tottenham's fate in the Premier League, with Senesi having verbally committed to Spurs only on the condition they maintain their top-flight status. Additionally, Liverpool's interest is dependent on Ibrahima Konate failing to agree fresh terms beyond the current campaign.

The Argentina international has already given his word to Tottenham, assuming the north London club avoid the drop, though the situation remains fluid enough for Liverpool to potentially intervene should circumstances shift.

Meanwhile, the Reds face a separate battle to retain their goalkeeper. Alisson Becker has reportedly verbally agreed to join Juventus, but talkSPORT pundits Ally McCoist and Jeff Stelling have both advised against Liverpool sanctioning the move.

McCoist was emphatic in his opposition, describing Alisson as potentially "their key player in the whole squad." Stelling echoed those sentiments, emphasising the importance of keeping hold of their number one, particularly given the significant departures already anticipated across the summer window.

Despite injury troubles in recent seasons, Alisson remains among the world's elite goalkeepers and would represent a considerable loss to Anfield's ranks.
