Yet there's an intriguing subplot at Anfield. While most seasoned observers maintain that Liverpool intend to persist with Arne Slot as their head coach next term, Sky Sports has claimed that Iraola is holding out specifically for either Liverpool or Leverkusen as his next destination.

Journalist Chris Royce has reported that the Liverpool board made contact with Iraola's representatives within the past 48 hours as they explore the possibility of bringing him to Merseyside. According to Royce, despite receiving offers from clubs across Italy, Germany, and England, Anfield represents Iraola's preferred choice.
