Liverpool Face Summer Exodus: £95m in Potential Sales as PSG Push for Mac Allister and Al-Ittihad Circle Salah

Liverpool are steeling themselves for another frenetic summer in the transfer market, with the prospect of recouping approximately £95m through player departures as Mohamed Salah and Alexis Mac Allister find themselves firmly in the crosshairs of overseas clubs.
The Anfield outfit are expected to be active once again when the window opens, following their massive £400m investment in overhauling the squad after clinching their 20th Premier League crown last season. Yet despite that considerable financial outlay, the campaign has largely disappointed, with many of their new arrivals and established stars enduring difficult campaigns. Arne Slot's management has come under scrutiny, whilst the club has also contended with the tragic loss of Diogo Jota and what some perceive as questionable recruitment strategy. Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz stand out as genuine successes among their summer signings, suggesting another substantial injection of funds may be necessary.
The Reds have already committed to a £60m move for Rennes defender Jeremy Jacquet, but several high-profile players could depart to offset spending.
Salah's situation has proven particularly turbulent of late. The Egyptian international recently found himself dropped to the bench during a period of indifferent form, prompting what observers have characterised as frustration. Whilst relations with Slot appear to have thawed since his African Cup of Nations involvement, exit rumours continue to swirl. Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Ittihad have reportedly identified him as their prime target to fill the void left by Karim Benzema's departure to Al-Hilal. The club's hierarchy are understood to be monitoring his circumstances closely with plans to make contact in the coming weeks, viewing Salah as the marquee signing required to maintain their status as title contenders. At an estimated valuation of €26m (£26m), the financial hurdle would be minimal.
However, the more imminent threat appears to centre on Mac Allister. Paris Saint-Germain, the reigning Champions League winners, are pushing hard to conclude a deal for the midfielder, with reports suggesting the French giants are stepping up their efforts to complete the transfer at pace. An offer in the region of €80m (£69m) is expected to prove sufficient to unlock negotiations. Liverpool's pragmatic approach to sales reflects their financial reality: having invested heavily in recent arrivals such as Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike, and Serge Frimpong, the club faces pressure to balance the books. Mac Allister's departure would represent a particularly profitable transaction, with the fee nearly double what Liverpool paid when acquiring him in summer 2023.
