Alonso Draws Up Liverpool Wishlist: Free Exit for Konate, Salah Sale, and Mac Allister Out

Xabi Alonso has reportedly outlined three key conditions for taking the Liverpool job, with Spanish outlet Fichajes claiming the appointment is 'practically a done deal' for the summer.

The Reds' midweek demolition of Qarabag—a commanding 6-0 victory that secured their Champions League last-16 spot—provided a rare bright spot. Yet their domestic campaign has been nothing short of a disappointment by Liverpool's lofty standards, despite Arne Slot winning the title in his debut season.

A weekend defeat to Bournemouth left the club winless across five Premier League outings, slipping behind Manchester United and Chelsea in the table. The pressure on Slot has intensified accordingly, with the club apparently keen to avoid a messy mid-season managerial change.

According to Fichajes, Alonso—recently sacked by Real Madrid—has begun plotting a wholesale squad renovation. The former Bayer Leverkusen boss believes a 'profound renewal' is essential if Liverpool are to reclaim their status among Europe's elite.

Ibrahima Konate tops the exit list. The defender, who has endured a difficult campaign, is earmarked as the first casualty, with Liverpool prepared to let him depart on a free transfer when his contract expires. Real Madrid and other suitors are reportedly monitoring the French centre-back's situation.

Alonso has also concluded that Mohamed Salah's time at Anfield has run its course. The Egyptian winger could be offloaded to Saudi Arabia for around £100m, freeing up considerable resources for the rebuild.

Alexis Mac Allister represents the third piece of the puzzle. The midfielder, Alonso believes, doesn't fit his vision for a Liverpool side stripped of emotional baggage and untouchable figures. Real Madrid have been linked with a potential €120m (£105m) swoop for the Argentine.

Fichajes suggests the overall package—Konate's free departure, Salah's £100m sale, and Mac Allister's £105m exit—would yield approximately £205m in funds and savings, bankrolling Alonso's ambitious restructuring plans.

However, James Pearce of The Athletic has poured cold water on such speculation. The long-serving Liverpool correspondent insists that Slot 'retains the backing of the Anfield hierarchy' and that the club has 'no plans to sack' the Dutchman mid-season. Liverpool have no appetite to follow the chaotic lead of Manchester United and Chelsea, who dispensed with their managers during the campaign.

While Slot's summer performance will undoubtedly come under scrutiny, the hierarchy remains committed to his project for now.
