The timing is hardly coincidental. Messi made an unannounced pilgrimage to Camp Nou in December whilst the stadium undergoes redevelopment, visiting ahead of Argentina's international fixture against Spain. The trip prompted an emotional social media post from the 37-year-old, who wrote: "Last night I returned to a place I miss with all my heart. A place where I was immensely happy, where you all made me feel a thousand times over like the happiest person in the world.
