Newcastle Chase Cut-Price Trossard as Arsenal Weigh Up Summer Exit

Newcastle United have registered their interest in landing Arsenal winger Leandro Trossard when the summer transfer window opens, with the Magpies viewing him as a potential reinforcement for their attacking ranks.

The Belgian wide man has established himself as a key player for the Gunners this campaign, earning glowing reviews from manager Mikel Arteta, who labelled him "exceptional" and highlighted his "level of consistency" back in January 2026. The 31-year-old has made 18 Premier League starts and four Champions League appearances, netting seven goals and laying on eight assists across 38 matches in all competitions.

Arteta has favoured Trossard over Gabriel Martinelli on the left flank this term, yet Arsenal may still be prepared to cash in. Reports suggest the north London club could entertain offers in the £20m–£25m bracket for their former Brighton player, despite him having a contract running through summer 2027.

Aston Villa have also thrown their hat in the ring, with their hierarchy convinced Trossard would slot seamlessly into Unai Emery's tactical framework. Eddie Howe's Newcastle, meanwhile, are keen to bolster their attacking options as they navigate uncertainty surrounding Anthony Gordon's future.
