Mbappe's Wish List: Why Real Madrid Are Chasing Bayern's Olise Over Fernandez and Alvarez

Real Madrid's summer recruitment drive under Jose Mourinho continues apace, yet amid the chatter surrounding Enzo Fernandez and Julian Alvarez, one name has emerged as the true object of desire: Bayern Munich's Michael Olise.

Los Blancos have already secured four headline arrivals this transfer window. Ibrahima Konate, Marc Cucurella, and Bernardo Silva have put pen to paper, whilst Denzel Dumfries will arrive from Inter Milan. President Florentino Perez, however, is not satisfied with that haul.

The Bernabeu hierarchy remains determined to bolster their ranks after two barren seasons. Barcelona have claimed LaLiga in each of the past two campaigns, whilst Paris Saint-Germain have lifted the Champions League trophy for the same period. That combination of silverware drought has sharpened Madrid's appetite for reinforcement.

Fernandez remains a target, with the Chelsea midfielder reportedly willing to make the move. Alvarez, too, remains in the conversation, though Madrid's €150 million bid for the Atletico Madrid frontman has already been rebuffed. Yet it is Olise who captivates both the club's hierarchy and their leading man.

The 24-year-old right-winger has flourished since his 2024 switch from Crystal Palace to Bavaria. His record speaks volumes: 42 goals and 54 assists across 107 appearances in all competitions. Mbappe, currently alongside Olise on World Cup duty with France, harbours genuine ambitions of combining with his compatriot at Estadio Bernabeu.

According to reports from El Debate, Perez views Olise as central to his revolutionary vision for the club. The publication claims that securing the Bayern star represents both the president's ambition and Mbappe's personal dream. Bayern, naturally, are having none of it—warning Madrid off with disdain and insisting they will not entertain offers, regardless of the figure.

The Spanish outlet paints a tantalising picture of what could be: Olise carrying possession and threading balls for Mbappe's explosive bursts down the flank. For that partnership to materialise, Madrid would need to stump up approximately €240 million—€200 million plus €40 million in performance bonuses.

Bayern, meanwhile, are plotting their own counter-offensive. Journalist Christian Falk reports that the Bavarian club intends to hand Olise a new contract extension through 2031, with wages nearly doubling in the process. Currently earning around €15 million annually, Olise would climb closer to Bayern's elite earners—approaching €25 million per year—under the new terms. Bayern's logic is simple: match his market value and secure his services for half a decade more.

Olise's elevation within Bayern's hierarchy reflects his transformation since arrival. Named Bundesliga Player of the Year, he has justified every penny of his €50 million transfer fee from Selhurst Park—a bargain compared to the €100 million Bayern paid for Harry Kane. Now, as one of the Bundesliga's most decisive performers, the club believes tying him down represents their best defence against Madrid's advances.

The battle lines are drawn. Perez and Mbappe covet the Frenchman; Bayern intend to make him untouchable.
