De Zerbi Plots £125m Spurs Overhaul: Savinho, Summerville and Gimenez on Radar

Tottenham's summer transfer window is shaping up to be a significant one. Fresh off back-to-back finishes in 17th place and a final-day scramble to avoid the drop, Spurs are preparing for major surgery in the forward ranks.
Roberto De Zerbi has signalled his intention to completely reshape the attacking setup, with the Italian manager indicating that only around a dozen players will form the core of next season's squad. The manager made his position crystal clear after the season-ending victory over Everton, stating: "From tonight, we have to start to organise and to build a new team. I think we have now to change too many players. We have 10, 11, 12 players good enough to stay. Good enough. Like players. Especially like people. And then we have to complete the squad with the first level of players. My target is to start the pre-season with the team I have in my dream."
The numbers tell a damning story. Tottenham managed just 48 goals across their 38 league matches, with the season's primary attacking trio—Mathys Tel, Richarlison and Randal Kolo Muani—combining for a mere 15. Kolo Muani will return to PSG following his unsuccessful loan stint, whilst Richarlison faces an uncertain future as part of the overhaul.
De Zerbi's dream scenario involves spending in the region of £125million on three attacking additions. The club's recruitment plans are already taking shape.
Savinho and the Manchester City Connection
Tottenham have revived their interest in Manchester City's Savinho, the 22-year-old Brazilian winger who has fallen out of favour under Pep Guardiola. Despite signing a new contract at the Etihad last summer—partly amid Spurs' previous interest—the forward managed just a single league goal this term and has been informed he can depart.
City are understood to be open to his exit, though they're not willing to accept a knockdown price. The expectation is that any deal would require a fee in the region of £60million, though Tottenham may attempt to negotiate that figure downwards given the circumstances.
Summerville: The Left-Flank Solution
West Ham's Crysencio Summerville is another target on De Zerbi's list. The 24-year-old Netherlands international endured the misery of a second Premier League relegation—previously going down with Leeds in 2023—but enjoyed a productive spell earlier this season, netting in four consecutive league matches before finishing with seven goals and five assists across 34 appearances in all competitions.
Summerville would represent a significant upgrade on the left flank, where Tel has often frustrated with his decision-making in the final third. Following the Hammers' drop to the Championship, valuations suggest the winger could be acquired for approximately £35million.
The Gimenez Gamble
Completing the attacking trio is AC Milan's Santiago Gimenez, the 25-year-old Mexico international. The striker endured a nightmare campaign in Italy, failing to register a single league goal across 16 appearances whilst hampered by an ankle injury.
This represents something of a gamble. Gimenez was prolific during his time with Feyenoord, scoring 65 times in 105 outings before his move to San Siro last summer, but remains unproven in English football. Mexican reports suggest he's open to a fresh start, and Milan would likely seek the £30million they invested in him last summer.
There is a legitimate concern about Tottenham's recruitment of injury-prone forwards—Richarlison and Dominic Solanke have both proven problematic on that front in recent seasons. However, if Gimenez can rediscover the form that made him such a force in the Eredivisie, the fee could represent smart business.
Spurs will at least be boosted by the potential return of fit players including Mohammed Kudus, Dejan Kulusevski and Wilson Odobert, whilst Solanke should benefit from a full pre-season without injury complications. Nevertheless, De Zerbi's vision of a completely refreshed attacking unit suggests significant changes are imminent.
