Beckham Hails Carrick's Calming Influence as Man Utd Finally Finds Peace After Decade of Chaos

Speaking on talkSPORT, the former England captain offered rare commentary on the transformation unfolding under Michael Carrick, who seized the reins in mid-January. For Beckham, the contrast with the preceding ten years couldn't be starker.

"The last few months have been a lot more comfortable than the last 10 years, to be honest. It's been tough over that time," Beckham reflected when discussing Carrick's impact thus far.

Since Carrick's arrival, United have collected 23 points from 30 available and clambered back into Champions League contention. Yet Beckham's assessment goes deeper than mere statistics—he's observing a philosophical realignment.

"Michael's got experience. He's got a calmness about him that he's brought into the club. He knows the club. He knows the players. He knows the way Man United play and the way Man United should play," Beckham explained.

What strikes the former midfielder most is Carrick's demeanour in the technical area—a studied composure that stands in sharp relief to the frantic energy that characterised recent regimes.

"There's an elegance in the way he is, whether it's the way he celebrates, whether it's the way he gets angry," Beckham said. "All of those things are important in a manager. The way he's got the team and brought the team together has been incredible. As a United fan, it's exactly what we needed."

That measured temperament, Beckham believes, has finally permeated a squad previously weighed down by the suffocating pressure of the Old Trafford hotseat. After years of feeling broken by circumstance, United now look like a different proposition entirely.
