Rosenior Dismisses Palmer Homesickness Speculation: 'He's Central to Our Future'

Liam Rosenior has moved swiftly to quash any talk of Cole Palmer's contentment at Chelsea, assuring the fanbase that the former Manchester City prospect is firmly settled in West London and plays a crucial role in his future planning.
Ahead of Sunday's trip to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace, followed by a pivotal Champions League encounter with Serie A leaders Napoli in Italy, the Blues boss addressed the speculation head-on during his pre-match briefing.
"I've spoken to Cole extensively and he's genuinely very happy here," Rosenior explained to journalists. "He's absolutely central to what we're building long-term. He's a phenomenal talent."
The 41-year-old acknowledged that Palmer has endured a frustrating period through injury, but stressed this bears no relation to his contentment at the club. "Every player encounters setbacks during their career because of injuries," Rosenior continued. "That's simply part of football, not a reflection of his abilities or his commitment to Chelsea."
Rosenior revealed Palmer returned to training on Friday and will be monitored before Sunday's fixture. The manager also provided updates on other squad members recovering from illness, including Estevao and Jamie Gittens, who have both regained full fitness after significant bouts of sickness that disrupted the week's preparation.
"We've had to be cautious managing the players' recovery from illness," Rosenior noted. "But the good news is they're gradually returning to complete fitness."
On fellow goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen, the manager delivered more encouraging news. His scan revealed less damage than initially feared, though he will miss the Palace encounter. "He could potentially feature against Napoli," Rosenior suggested.
The Chelsea boss was candid about his approach to Palmer's rehabilitation, emphasizing that protecting players isn't about being soft but rather ensuring they perform at their ceiling. "That's my responsibility now—managing the group so they deliver at peak performance," he said.
Rosenior also addressed the midfield situation following Dario Essugo's unfortunate training ground injury, which will sideline the player for over a month. Romeo Lavia is returning to availability, and Rosenior indicated he won't rush into January business unless a signing genuinely strengthens the squad.
"I've got Enzo, Moi, Andrey Santos, and Reece James available," Rosenior explained. "That's a solid group. We'll only pursue recruitment if a player genuinely improves what we're building and fits our chemistry."
