Chelsea Set Price Tag and Player-Plus-Deal Demands as Enzo Fernandez Edges Towards Madrid Exit

Enzo Fernandez's future at Chelsea appears increasingly uncertain, with the Premier League side now prepared to negotiate his exit—but only on their terms.

The Argentine midfielder, widely regarded as one of the division's finest ball-players, has caught the attention of Europe's elite. Real Madrid are particularly keen, viewing him as the missing piece in their central midfield. Florentino Perez is understood to be using the prospect of landing Fernandez as a key plank in his campaign for re-election at the Bernabéu.

According to reports, Fernandez has made no secret of his desire to leave Chelsea following a frustrating campaign at the club. His representatives, including agent Pastore, are actively working to facilitate a move to the Spanish capital.

However, Chelsea are not about to wave goodbye without securing maximum value. The Blues have laid down two non-negotiable conditions for any suitor.

First comes the financial demand: a transfer fee of €140million (£121.3m). That represents a substantial investment, even by Real Madrid's standards, though hardly excessive given Fernandez's pedigree and contract status.

More intriguingly, Chelsea are insisting that any deal must include a player coming the other way. This player-plus-cash structure could prove the sticking point in negotiations, forcing Madrid to identify an expendable asset from their squad.

The competition for Fernandez's signature extends beyond the Spanish capital, however. Manchester City are actively pursuing the midfielder, with incoming manager Enzo Maresca—who previously worked with Fernandez at Chelsea—reportedly determined to bring him to the Etihad. Maresca views him as a type of midfielder City currently lack.

Paris Saint-Germain have also registered their interest, meaning Chelsea hold a reasonably strong hand in what promises to be a fascinating summer saga.
