Lampard Would Be Powerless to Resist Spurs Opportunity, Insists Parlour

Ray Parlour has suggested that Frank Lampard would struggle to turn down the chance to manage Tottenham, even given his storied history across the divide at Chelsea.

Spurs currently find themselves in murky waters, having cycled through two managers this campaign and sitting just a single point clear of the drop zone. The club has pinned their hopes on Roberto De Zerbi, handing him a five-year deal that signals genuine commitment to turning things around.

Early indications suggest De Zerbi has already begun making an impression on the Tottenham squad before kicking a ball in charge.

Should De Zerbi's tenure falter and another managerial search become necessary, Parlour reckons the Chelsea legend would be unable to resist the call.

"It's an opportunity you simply couldn't walk away from," Parlour explained. "If that job came his way, he'd have to take it. Regardless of where they are right now."

The prospect raises thorny questions about whether a man synonymous with Chelsea success—particularly against their north London rivals—could ever truly be accepted at White Hart Lane. Yet there's a case to be made that Lampard has evolved considerably since his last Premier League post. His Coventry City side currently top the Championship by a commanding 12-point margin, with promotion now just four wins away.
